According to a survey conducted by Digital Music News and ReverbNation 3 out of 4 artists would like to be signed to a recording agreement. In its article revealing the results of the survey, Digital Music News also summarizes the RIAA’s position on this. The RIAA statement is titled “Why Being Signed to a Music Label Rocks”.
A former senior executive at the Nashville office oone of the major labels recently told me – “Unless you or someone you know is willing to write a check for $750,000 you are not going to be able to compete in the music business with the established labels.” That plus the experience that a label brings to the table pretty much says it all.
